Bills of material

Bill of material: The correct parts in your products.

This is enabled by PROLAG®World's bill of materials. The bill of material contains information about the raw materials, parts and assemblies required for a finished product.

Bills of material

The bill of material can have multiple levels, that is, if a finished part contains semi-finished parts which in turn are based on a bill of material, the semi-finished parts are also maintained in the same bill of material and exploded depending on the sequence.
All of the bill of material levels are defined in PROLAG®World. PROLAG®World determines the correct sequence and the respective material requirements for a production order.
If PROLAG®World explodes the bill of material for a production order, the WMS calculates how many finished parts can be produced with the raw materials which are available in the warehouse. PROLAG®World only reserves the quantity of raw materials or semi-finished parts which is available in the warehouse for the production of full parts.

Parts with a missing raw material part are not scheduled for production. Raw materials waiting for a missing can be used for other products if required.
Users can determine whether the exploded bill of material is changed or modified or if individual items are exchaned or substitute articles used. This means that the production process is flexible and transparent.

The bills of material module in PROLAG®World is used for picking based on BOMs - in this way, your finished product will contain only the correct individual parts and ingredients. A bill of material is a structured list of individual articles or components required to produce a subproduct or finished product.

PROLAG®World can manage bills of material with any number of levels. The individual articles and components and well as the subproducts and finished products are defined in the article master. The bills of material define the individual parts and/or components which are contained in a subproduct or finished product. For retrieval, you can specify on an individual delivery order basis whether the bill of material should be exploded (that is, the BOM is broken down so that individual parts can be picked).
If a finished product which is not available in the warehouse is required for a retrieval, the bill of material can be exploded to access the subproducts.

If the characteristic for bill of material explosion is defined, PROLAG®World replaces the finished product in the delivery order with the individual parts from the bill of material. The software automatically determines  the availability of the individual parts. Individual parts assembled from a bill of material can also be exploded. The individual  in the delivery order werden are reserved and then picked later.
