Shortage item handling/Cross-docking

Shortage item handling/crossdocking refers in PROLAG®World to a type of stock handling where the putaway process and all related activities can be omitted. If a shortfall occurs during a picking or production process, shortage item handling is activated. Using crossdocking, the shortage items are taken from the goods receipt area straight to the location at which they are required.

Settings can be made in PROLAG®World to determine whether delivery order waiting for shortage items should be shipped without the items or withheld until they are available. The option of pre-picking the delivery order and adding the shortage items later can also be configured in the system. A full incoming load unit (LU) can be taken straight to the goods receipt area if all of the goods on the LU are required to fulfil shortage item orders.
