Vendor-managed inventory (VMI)

Vendor-managed inventory (VMI) in PROLAG®World is divided into active and passive VMI.

Vendor-managed inventory (VMI)

Active VMI

Active vendor-managed inventory means that the supplier (vendor) assumes responsibility for maintaining an agreed stock level for that particular article. Suppliers are automatically informed if the stock level at a customer falls below a defined minimum. The supplier can then react by initiating a delivery of the article, for example.

Passive VMI

With passive vendor-managed inventory, the supplier of an article assumes reponsibility for maintaining an agreed stock level for that article. Suppliers can monitor stock levels for articles within their article spectrum. If stock levels fall below a defined minimum, the supplier can react by initiating a delivery of the article, for example.
