Carl Nolte gets its warehouse fit for the future with the newest version of PROLAG^®World

The company has been working with CIM’s warehouse management software for almost ten years, and recently took a major step towards future-proofing its business with a release upgrade to the latest standard version of PROLAG^®World.

CIM GmbH and the Technical University of Munich are currently working on a joint research project titled ‘SeSoGEN – Entwicklung einer selbstlernenden Software zur Generierung intelligenter Einlagerungsstrategien auf Basis neuronaler Netze’ (SeSoGEN - Development of self-learning software for generating intelligent putaway strategies using neural networks). The goal of the project is to develop a warehouse management system capable of autonomously optimising warehouse processes using artificial intelligence.

The coronavirus has had the world firmly in its grasp since the beginning of 2020. As shown by the latest DHL Global Connectedness Index 2020 (GCI), the pandemic has radically changed the state of globalisation as well as international trade flows. Education research institutes and parent associations are warning of the inequality of homeschooling during the Corona crisis. Especially in lower-income families, children often have no access to a computer where they can complete schoolwork at home. CIM GmbH, LINOS-FFB and the Hans Kiener Foundation have therefore joined forces to improve the situation in Fürstenfeldbruck by donating notebooks to a local school.

German Chancellor Angela Merkel has described the corona crisis as “the greatest challenge since the second World War”. Event organiser EUROEXPO announced their decision on Wednesday evening to cancel LogiMAT 2020. The cancellation due to an official injunction amid concerns over the coronavirus means that CIM GmbH will no longer have the opportunity to showcase the newest features in their intralogistics software. The company has therefore decided to bring personal consulting services to the web.

The pupils of the Orlando-di-Lasso secondary school in Maisach were invited to complete as many laps as they could in 90 minutes. Sponsors of the charity run agreed to donate a specific sum for each completed lap of 888 m. Finding a warehouse management system (WMS) capable of mapping the diverse processes used at SBB’s multilingual sites in a standard solution – this was the chief requirement and the biggest challenge in implementing a warehouse management system at SBB. By combining voice and vision, CIM has made it possible for users to exploit the advantages of both systems. Visitors had the opportunity to see this for themselves during live tests performed at CIM’s stand.

“Making logistics processes faster and more accurate” – this will be the focus of CIM GmbH’s presence at LogiMAT 2019. The use of AR smart glasses in conjunction with the Warehouse Management System PROLAG^®World is intended to help achieve this objective. The logistics experts will demonstrate how smart glasses can reduce workloads and streamline processes.

Die CIM stellt quartalsweise Releases zur Verfügung. Einen Teil der Erweiterungen des Releases 2.8.3 betrifft das Modul Retourenmanagement. Die im Lager eingehenden Retouren können nun noch schneller für den Wiederversand verfügbar gemacht werden. PROLAG®World merkt sich bereits beim Versand der Ware die Warendaten. Bei Eingabe eines konfigurierten Retourengrundes werden die Retouren automatisch in den passenden Lagerbereich gelagert. In Kombination mit dem Instandhaltungsmodul können die Retouren entweder zur Instandhaltung (Verpackung wird ersetzt) oder in die Werkstatt (Artikel muss repariert werden) geschickt und ein Werkstattauftrag erzeugt werden.

This year’s validation of CIM’s Warehouse Management System PROLAG®World by the Fraunhofer Institute for Material Flow and Logistics reaffirms the software’s position as one of the most flexible and modern solutions for the intralogistics sector. ‘Sensor technology in logistics’ and the ‘Internet of Things’ – these were much discussed topics at this year’s CeMAT and also the key focus at CIM’s stand.
