Wecovi, a leading manufacturer of cleaning materials, guest sets and fixtures and fittings based in the Netherlands is pushing forward with digitalisation of its warehousing facilities despite the corona crisis. The company has opted for PROLAG®World, a warehouse management system developed by German company CIM GmbH, to take their existing warehouse into the future as well as manage their entire production process and a new warehouse which is currently in planning. The main reason for choosing PROLAG®World was the sophisticated production control functionalities combined with the scalability and flexibility of the WMS.

Wecovi's headquarters, logistics centre and production facility are located in Zwolle, Netherlands. “Due to our strong growth in the past and our plans to expand, we’ll be opening a second warehouse at our current location in Zwolle,” explains Hans-Paul Visscher, managing director of Wecovi. As part of this expansion, the scanning application currently used by Wecovi will be replaced by PROLAG®World. Connected to their existing ERP system, the WMS will be responsible in future for all of the company’s warehouse management and production processes.

Although the corona crisis has not left Wecovi unscathed, the company is pleased to report that their order books are still well filled. This is due in part to their wide spectrum of products and the increased demand for cleaning products from their Wecoline range. “Given the exceptional circumstances at the moment, we’re glad that we chose CIM as we know we have a team with over 35 years of market experience behind us,” says Visscher. Moreover, Wecovi considers itself optimally equipped for future challenges thanks to CIM’s sophisticated production control software and the flexibility offered by PROLAG®World.

Besides basic WMS functions such as stock putaway with GTIN or GS1 labels, stock transfer, automatic replenishment or optimised stock removal, Wecovi will also be implementing CIM’s production control functionality and their shipping system PROSEND®. Both are already fully integrated into the standard software. In addition, picking will be managed by CIM's very own order picking system PROLAG®Go.

Wecovi was put in touch with CIM by Jeroen van den Berg from the consulting firm Jeroen van den Berg Consulting, one of the leading logistics consultancy services in the Benelux countries. “We specialise in practical and process-oriented consulting,” says van den Berg. He recommended CIM because of the great emphasis the company places on building strong and long-term customer relationships. This is evident from the fact that CIM has a dedicated branch in The Hague with a team on hand to serve existing and prospective customers in the Benelux countries.

“We were impressed by the highly standardised yet flexible functionality provided by CIM combined with the company’s philosophy”, says Visscher. Thanks to the modular design of PROLAG®World, Wecovi can purchase the functionalities they need now and add extra modules and functions later on as the company continues to grow and requirements change. “Our system is extremely versatile and provides our customers with a lasting competitive advantage both now and in the future”, says CIM logistics consultant Maarten Janssen optimistically.
