2. Global processes
Check expiry date validity by purchase order type
Relevant module: Expiry date management 205-07
Benefits:
Stock which has a short expiry date but is allowed for retrieval can be placed in storage without being locked for QA. This is still possible even if the remaining time until expiry at goods receipt is not observed.
Description:
The validity of the expiry date is checked at putaway based on the expiry date check field. If the expiry date has already exceeded the defined number of days in the expiry date range, the stock is locked for QA before putaway at the I-point.
A new feature is that when the expiry date is checked for special order types, such as returns, the value specified in article master for the expiry date - remaining time field can be used. For this purpose, the order type is extended with the characteristic "QA check on remaining time at goods receipt". If this characteristic is set, the stock only has to be locked for QA at the I-point if the expiry date is below the range of the expiry date - remaining time for the article.
This means that stock from returns can be put into storage without a QA lock even if the remaining time until expiry at goods receipt is not observed.

Stock level report - quantity in remaining expiry time
Relevant module: Stock level report 207-04_1
Benefits:
To provide a better overview of where the goods in stock are located, a new column has been added to the stock level report. This column shows whether stock which is not locked for QA is already within remaining expiry time.
Description:
Stock which is not in QA or locked and has an expiry date that is already within the remaining time can be counted in a separate column in the stock level report and handled accordingly by the host system. The quantities in remaining expiry time are no longer counted towards the reserved and free quantities.
Note for systems prior to standard 3.2.3: Before standard 3.2.3, the stock quantity in remaining expiry time was added to the reserved or free quantity. This is still the standard handling by the host system. The allocation of the stock in remaining expiry time to the new column can be defined by making the relevant setting in the configuration file.
Example:There is stock for article 4711 in a high bay rack. The stock quantity is 10, of which 2 pieces are locked, 3 pieces are in quarantine (QA), 3 pieces in remaining expiry time (2 of these are reserved) and 1 further piece is reserved.
The stock level report communicates the following:
- Do not report stock in remaining expiry time separately: 3 pieces in quarantine, 2 locked, 3 reserved, 2 free
- Report stock in remaining expiry time separately: 3 pieces in quarantine, 2 locked, 3 in remaining expiry time, 1 reserved, 1 free
