Through close collaboration, the joint project team succeeded in implementing a modern, future-ready warehouse management solution within a remarkably short timeframe, enabling standardized processes, enhanced inventory accuracy and maximum operational flexibility.
Initial situation
HNE Logistics specializes in the compliant storage of energy storage systems, lithium batteries and hazardous materials classified under storage classes 8 to 13, delivering safe and efficient logistics operations for industrial customers. As part of its warehouse modernization initiative, HNE was looking to replace its legacy warehouse management system with a modern, scalable solution capable of supporting the diverse requirements of multiple inventory owners while seamlessly managing complex warehouse operations. The new system also needed to optimize existing workflows and provide the flexibility to adapt quickly to evolving business requirements.
Several key factors made PROLAG World the ideal choice. In addition to its robust, process-driven workflows, the solution stood out for its powerful serial number management capabilities and modular software architecture. This enables HNE to seamlessly add new functionalities and adapt warehouse processes as business requirements evolve. Integrated warehouse billing functionality, combined with advanced hazardous goods and materials management, were also important factors in the selection process. An additional advantage was the existing in-house expertise at HNE: The warehouse manager brought more than ten years of hands-on experience with PROLAG World, having previously and worked extensively with the software on a day-to-day basis.
Goals
The implementation of PROLAG World was driven by a clearly defined set of objectives for the warehouse facility in St. Florian. In addition to introducing of a scalable warehouse management system and enhanced inventory accuracy the focus was on optimizing fine-picking processes and providing greater transparency through the monitoring of key performance indicators. The project also aimed to streamline inventory processes and enhance the efficiency of hazardous goods and materials management.
„PROLAG World enabled us to standardize our warehouse processes quickly, while significantly increasing transparency across our operations.”

Outcome
The project was completed within an a remarkably short timeframe, with just four and a half months between the initial project kick-off and the successful go-live. This achievement was made possible through close collaboration between both project teams, combined with the use of standardized processes requiring minimal customization. The warehouse returned to full operational capacity just a few days after the system went live.
The advantages of the new solution are already clearly visible in day-to-day operations. HNE now benefits from enhanced inventory accuracy and standardized warehouse processes. Warehouse billing and value-added services (VAS) invoicing are handled directly within PROLAG World, significantly reducing manual effort. At the same time, the integrated hazardous materials strategy ensures clearly defined storage locations and provides greater safety and compliance in the handling of hazardous materials.
Conclusion
With PROLAG World, HNE Logistics now benefits from a robust and future-ready system foundation for its warehouse operations. The solution combines standardized processes with the flexibility needed to adapt to evolving requirements, ensuring stable, transparent and secure operations – both today and in the future.
